Tom joined Summit in 1998. Trained as a quantitative scientist, Tom received BS, MA, and PhD degrees in cognitive psychology from Duke, Bradley, and Ohio State universities respectively.
He has special interests in executive compensation, retirement planning and caring for elders. He enjoys devising strategies for individuals combining investments and taxes.
He has taught Financial Planners, CPAs and Securities Industry executives about retirement planning, investments, and stock-based compensation issues.
Tom has published numerous articles in consumer, professional and specialty publications. Frequently quoted in the press, his opinions have appeared in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, & AARP Bulletins, among others. He has served as a judge and reviewer for the Financial Planning Association and for the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Certification exam.
He is an Advisory Board member for myStockOptions.com. Tom is active in the Financial Planning Association, American Association of Individual Investors and the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA).
In a previous career at AT&T Bell Laboratories he created human factors design and managed large software development projects. He is married and is cared for by two terriers.
