Mike Scherer

Mike started his career at Summit Financial Strategies in 2006. He holds a Bachelor of Science in finance with a focus in microeconomics from Miami University. Mike obtained his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification in 2010.

Mike serves as Summit’s Director of Research, leading research initiatives for the Investment Committee and helping to drive portfolio design and implementation. He has extensive experience with investment analysis, cash flow planning and analysis, tax planning and Medicare consulting. He is an active member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) and the Financial Planning Association (FPA). Mike has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal numerous times and has given presentations to local and national groups regarding cash flow management, retirement planning and investment analysis and planning.

Mike resides in Westerville with his wife Megan. He spends his time off watching the Columbus Blue Jackets, golfing, cycling and reading. Mike also volunteers his time with Imerman Angels and as a Patient-Family Experience Advisor at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital.

 

 

Tim Swain

Tim started his career in financial planning at Summit Financial Strategies in 2007. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Family Financial Planning from The Ohio State University, and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. Tim works with an internal team of planners and has extensive experience providing clients and their families with wealth management and investment advisory services. Tim serves as the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer.

Tim gained valuable leadership and professional experience while racing as a professional cyclist for Abercrombie & Fitch, Inferno and Kenda Pro Cycling. Tim is also an advocate for Pelotonia, a Columbus-based organization that raises money for ongoing cancer research.

Tim resides in Blacklick, Ohio with his wife Carmen and four children, Gavin, Finn, Cleo and Ruby. He spends his time away from the office with his family, gardening, running and cycling.
